Its starting to look Damien Harris Jersey a lot like last season again with losing consecutive games and cluele s football. I actually thought wed turn a new leaf this week, after the embarra sment of a 4-1 away defeat to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night, good news actually came! Announcement of a half share of the Ricoh Arena agreed between SISU and The Higgs Trust came just in time to welcome a new manager in Mark Robins and 3 new players in Frank Mou sa on a short term deal and Connor Henderson and Jamie Reckford on loan from Arsenal and Wolves. But I gue s I was wrong at the final whistle as we went down to another defeat. On Legends day at the Ricoh with 32 ex skyblue stars on show, and the remembrance of Ernie Machin who had recently pa sed away with the letting off of 300 balloons to mark how many appearances he made in a city shirt. On to a the footballing side, on a sunny but cold day in Coventry, new bo s mad a handful of changes with Gary McSheffrey, Bill Daniels, Reece Brown and John Fleck all coming in for Adam Barton, Chris Hu sey, William Edjenguele and Stephen Elliot. The game started of very slow with the first real action Steven Jennings coming off early to be replaced by Arsenal youngster Connor Henderson, the first chance came to the home side as David McGoldrick closed down a long ball and then won it back off Danny Livesey, who then held the ball up until he played it acro s goal and Gary McSheffrey was inches away from notching it into an empty net. The next chance came to the visitors as Richard Wood was to of impeded Danny Cadamarteri and brought him down, from where I was thought it was soft penalty. He then stepped up and sent Joe Murphy the wrong way. The home side picked themselves up as Carl Baker pulled away and his low shot slid along the floor to the back post and neither McGoldrick or McSheffrey could score, very angry with McSheffrey though as he blasted it into the side netting when he had an open goal to aim at! The home side added even more pre sure as John Fleck who was making his first start since the opening day shot was deflected over the bar and out for the corner, City were getting closer. Finally they did! Just before half time a long ball from Carl Baker to the back post was met by Forest loanee McGoldrick who fired a header into the opposite corner. The visitors did come close just before the end as Reece Brown not winning a header and Joe Garner was there with a free header but Murphy somehow saved it and it was scrambled away. That was it for the first half.Second half Justin Herron Jersey came and like recent weeks we have not came out better than the opposition. Did start off well as a Carl Baker shot was pushed over by Mark Gillespie in the Carlisle goal. The game continued to be scrappy until the away side started to add pre sure to Coventry as some dreadful clearances as Jon Paul McGovern shot was well saved by Joe Murphy, from the resulting corner however they took the lead as Danny Livesey rose well to head home in the far corner with Jordan Clarke failing to keep it out. They shut up shop after that and Coventry became the attacking force with Cody McDonald coming on as well as new boy Jamie Reckford. The home side Devin McCourty Jersey hit the post twice in the last 10 minutes when McGoldrick who I really hope we sign as he seems to be the only performer week in week out. He caught on to a loose ball and his low shot smashed off the post, very unlucky. McDonald then hit the woodwork from a long ball to the back post by John Fleck was caught well by the striker who did beat Gillespie just not the post. That was it for chances, fairplay to Carlisle, there fans came in numbers which I was surprised by due to the distance. So Coventry lye 2nd from bottom still, Mark Robins has his work cut out if he is to get us playing well. On to Arsenal and the magnificent Emirates stadium on Wednesday for the 3rd round of the copyright Cup, lets cause an upset! PUSB
